How do you tell if your puppy is pregnant? She can't be but she might be. I am so flabergasted right now. With my luck she is. Someone help me. What to do - what to do??
Honestly, you can't tell until she's very close to delivering. A vet can take xrays(I dont think any around here do ultrasound)but again, pups would not show up until they are close to delivery.
Its time to get a book on breeding.
There is no way to keep a dog in heat from getting preggo unless she's NEVER left alone. Not even for a second. Dogs will get to her through a fence...no lie. Even screens! Another scary thing is if she is pregnant, shes very young and could have a lot of pups and will not be able to deliver them. A doggie c-section can cost $1000 easy.
I would plan an getting her to the vet in a couple of weeks and see what they say. If you keep open communication with them, they will be more willing to help you.
Do you think she was already pregnant when you got her, or that she just got that way since moving in with you?
One other thing that no ever talks about...you can take her in to get fixed NOW. People do this all the time. Its a lot cheaper than some of the alternatives and will make you life much easier.
Let's see where shall I begin. I am a 31 year old mother of 3. I have been married to my husband Jason for 13 years. My kids are my pride and joy. Brendan is 11, Colby 8, and Chaley 6. They definately keep me busy. I drive school bus for a living & I love it. I truely believe I found a job that I will retire at. When I am not busy being a mom and doing all the things that come along with keeping up a household and caring for my children I enjoy a little "me" time. I LOVE to scrapbook, shop, and spend time with my friends. I have been very blessed with some pretty amazing people in my life. I also enjoy spending my summer days with my kids on the beaches of Lake Michigan. Camping is a family favorite. And yes we are probably one of a very few who still love to camp in a tent. We would not have it any other way.
